The birth of a long-awaited and beloved child is always happiness and joy for the whole family. When a baby is born, a new life filled with joy, tenderness and love begins for parents.
In the first three years of life children grow, learn and develop especially actively. The age from birth to 3 years is one of the most important periods in a child's development. The baby acquires necessary key skills exactly during this period. It is important for parents to closely monitor their child: their physical and emotional development, the nature of their play, movements, and communication provide important information about successful and prosperous growth and development. Each child is unique and develops at their own pace, but some children need help with this. Such help is provided by specialists in the early intervention system.
In Belarus, a system aimed at providing timely assistance to families with young children has been built on an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental basis. Early intervention services are provided in children's clinics, in centers for correctional and developmental education and rehabilitation (CCDEER), in medical rehabilitation centers and in other institutions.
The goal of early assistance is the earliest possible detection and differential diagnosis of developmental disorders in children. In addition, specialists identify the child's potential and create conditions for full general development and maximum possible correction of the child's existing disorders. Comprehensive early assistance includes actions that improve the child's quality of life and social adaptation, promoting the formation of significant life skills according to age. Specialists pay special attention to increasing the psychological and pedagogical competence of parents and other close adults in order to improve the quality of life of the family as a whole.
Providing timely assistance to young children with developmental disorders in many cases helps restore health, avoid disability and normalize the child's development.
